    The Company

    Harmonic are proud to be working with one of the leading automotive manufacturers in the world on the appointment of their new Financial Controller. After pivoting the business to adapt to the new ways of the world, they are now looking to strengthen the entity's finance function with a new number two in finance.

    The group turnover is circa $2bn however, this particular entity has revenues closer to $130m. There is an extremely impressive leadership team and there will be great exposure to senior stakeholders internally and externally through numerous high-level projects.

    You will be the right-hand man to the Finance Directors and number two in Finance. The role will focus on developing a strong team, working within an expanding business with multiple trading entities. You will manage a finance team, consisting of three direct reports and you will be responsible for ensuring the financial information is kept up to date, enabling the business to make appropriate strategic decisions regarding growth.

    The Role

    You will be focused on leading the financial accounting operations of the company, to include financial reporting, systems maintenance, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets/forecasts designed to mitigate risk, improve the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with necessary accounting standards. Additionally, you will provide insightful reporting to help the executive team understand the business dynamics and make decisions to improve profit and cashflow.


    * Day to day running of the Finance function.
    * Full responsibility for month end reporting and forecasting/budgeting in accordance with Group reporting deadlines.
    * Full responsibility for the transactional finance.
    * Ensuring that all of the trading entities operate under an appropriate level of financial governance and control.
    * Ensure compliance with appropriate revenue recognition standards for multiple ongoing projects.
    * Direct management of the audit process and statutory reporting.
    * Directly responsible for the treasury function (including cashflow reporting), and working capital including cash collection, purchase ledger and stock control.
    * Monitoring the R&D expenditure and returns to ensure in line with business cases.
    * Responsible for approving the monthly payroll of the three trading entities.
    * Review of balance sheet reconciliations and control accounts.
    * Provide information to the executive team, enabling decisions to improve profit and cashflow.
    * Liaising with tax authorities (including international authorities), tax advisors and group tax manager on VAT, withholding taxes, SAO, PSA, and R&D Claims.

    What we need to see (essential)

    * Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with a commercial outlook
    * Management Experience
    * Robust experience of financial accounting and management reporting procedures and routines
    * Experience dealing with all aspects of UK tax, particularly VAT.
    * Resilient and confident individual with consummate influencing and persuasion skills.
    * Presentable and personable - the candidate must be immediately credible with stakeholders
    * Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively

    What we would like to see (bonus)

    * An understanding of tax in the US and Singapore is desirable

    Salary: £90,000 - £95,000 + benefits
