    Harmonic Finance are proud to have been retained to recruit the next Finance Director for one of Oxfordshire's most successful privately-owned professional services businesses.
    The company:
    Led by a hugely impressive entrepreneur, the business are seeking an elite Finance Director to help support the continued aggressive growth of their business.
    The company deliver business-to-business services both independently (60% of revenue) and as Franchisor (40% of revenue) and have subsequently developed a hugely scalable and highly-profitable commercial model.
    The organisation put their environmental and sustainability credentials front and centre, and have attained a series of quality standards and accreditations which have given them a competitive advantage in tendering processes.
    The role
    Acting as #2 to the CEO/Founder, this is a high-impact Finance Director role. You will have direct top-table input on commercial and financial strategy and be a highly-visible figure within the business.
    The role requires a 'player-coach': a candidate with the gravitas and emotional intelligence to lead and motivate their team and to compliment the CEO, but also an individual who retains a passion to really get 'hands-on' with both the commercial and financial accounting. The company is in great shape, but it is scaling at pace and subsequently requires a candidate willing to get really hands-on with the detail in the first 6 months of the role.
    You will inherit a talented Head of Finance, Financial Controller, Management Accountant and transactional finance and payroll team thus making an aptitude to lead and to build rapport with colleagues an absolute must. It should also be noted that the company 'own' the billing and AR processes for their franchisees.
    Although the balance sheet is extremely healthy, there are some clear areas of improvement which the CEO would like to be addressed within the first year; namely lack of commercial insight. The role would therefore suit a Finance Director who has a passion for FP&A and who has retained strong hands-on skills with excel modelling. A passion for finance systems improvement and business partnering with operational colleagues would also be very helpful.
    Strategy:
    Including a recent major acquisition, turnover is expected to increase very rapidly to circa £27 million for the next financial year. The company have developed a Target Operating Model which balances continued organic growth with further plans for acquisitions in the medium-term. Core objective include reaching £50 million turnover within 5 years and building a nationally-recognized brand.

    Company culture is wonderfully open: very welcoming, lots of laughter and a focus upon mutual respect and displaying the company values. The CEO is seeking a Finance Director who will challenge his ideas and suggest new ones versus a "yes person", so an ability to think creatively and to communicate at a high level is a must.

    Work location:
    The company have a very forward-thinking attitude to remote working. However, given that their office is Covid-secure there is a preference for candidates who are open in future months to attending the office in person for at least part of the week (subject to government advice). There will also be an expectation that you will travel to visit various Franchisee sites on regular occasions to ensure that Finance is outward-facing and finance business partners with colleagues effectively.
    Essential skills, qualifications and experience:

    * Fully-qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA
    * At least 2 years experience at Finance Director or Head of Finance Level within a business with a turnover in excess of £10 million.
    * Balanced aptitude for both financial and commercial accounting.
    * Strong leadership and management skills.
    * Process improvement experience.

    Bonus skills and experience:

    * Experience of working within a franchise structure would be helpful.
    * M&A and business integration experience.
    * Experience with Netsuite and/or Xero would be of benefit.
    * Previous background in Audit or Transactional Services

    Salary: £90-100,000
    Package: Discretionary bonus, private healthcare and equity (growth shares).
    Interview process: Initial interviews with Harmonic Founder, Charlie Walker, followed by 2x interviews with the CEO/Founder and a further shareholder. Final stage is likely to be a short presentation task.
