Senior Accountant | Series A E-Commerce Startup | Fully Remote

The Client:

Harmonic Finance are delighted to be working with a Series A Food-Tech Startup who have raised over $20M in Private-Equity funding.

With orders arriving in under 15 minutes, they provide one of the quickest grocery deliveries in the US. They compete with services such as Amazon Fresh, Door Dash, and Go Puff with a business built on AI-enabled technology that can improve delivery times.

The business is growing rapidly, and this role would suit a confident and driven individual, who would like to join a mission-focused business. Culturally the business is filled with incredibly talented, ambitious people and the impressive senior leadership team are renowned for their emphasis on training and development. They are keen to add someone to the company who is fun, hardworking and wants to progress their career quickly.

The role:

This role will be an integral part of the finance team and will work closely with the Director of Finance. There will be additional opportunities to get involved in ad-hoc finance projects that will help to form the future of the company. Given the rapid growth and pace of change, this role needs someone with an eye for process improvement and real willingness to get stuck into the detail.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with the general accounting process by preparing journal entries

• Process the permits and business licenses' for multiple entities

• Review tax processes and make suggestions of how to improve accordingly

• Prepare the tax returns for multiple sites, locations, and states

• Assist with the month-end close process which includes preparing balance sheet reconciliations and P&L accounts

• Oversee payroll duties

• Review filed tax returns

• Aid payroll tax notices when needed

• Respond to any inquiries from external auditors to better the business.

What we need to see (Essential):

• A Bachelor's degree (preferably in Accounting, Finance, or related field)

• 3+ years' experience in accounting

• Experience at a multi-site/ product-based businesses

• Strong experience in sales tax

• Strong knowledge of US GAAP

• High degree of attention to detail and accuracy

• Incredibly ambitious with a desire to continue to learn

• Excited about working somewhere which is changing every day

• Strong analytical skills and experience using data to help make strategic decisions

What we would like to see (Bonus):

• CPA license

• Knowledge of property and payroll tax

• Previous experience in Big 4 public accounting

• Experience in a fast growth scale up or start-up

• Experience in a fast-paced environment

• Bookkeeping, Accounts Payable, Invoicing, and Payroll experience are a plus

Location: Fully Remote (US)

Salary: $70,000 - $85,000 + Equity
