Finance Manager (3 days per week) | TV and Film Production SME | London/Hybrid

Harmonic is thrilled to be working on a retained basis with a TV and Film Production SME with an emphasis on amplifying voices and creating compelling and exciting content.

The Client

Our client is a TV and Film production business with a focus on branded content that works to amplify the voices and presence of young talent in the creative world. With a headcount of around 15, this SME has creativity and passion at their forefront. Working with household-name clients in fashion, entertainment, and consumer goods such as BBC, YouTube, MAC Cosmetics, Waitrose, and Veuve Cliquot, this small content production agency is making big waves in the industry.

This is a 3 day a week (part-time) hybrid role with 2 days expected in the business' office, based in a trendy and bustling area in Central London. Their culture prioritises creativity, respect, and kindness-everyone is welcome in their professional but non-corporate environment. As an SME, the group is comprised of ambitious and entrepreneurial personalities who are keen to make compelling content and grow the business.

The Role

As the first permanent finance hire in the business, you will be responsible for managing the finance function of the business. This includes a wide array of duties, ranging from bookkeeping and AP/AR, completion of management accounts, building efficient processes, and supporting with commercial and strategic initiatives to drive business growth. The role provides a great opportunity for a Finance Manager to add significant value to a growing creative business, and experience a range of responsibilities to support the business. Business partnering closely with the MD/Executive Producer of the business, you'll be tasked with supporting ongoing projects, building an efficient function, and seeking out ways to drive growth and achieve their goals over the next few years.

The ideal candidate will have strong communications skills, previous project-based experience, as well as a passion and drive to support the widespread needs of a growing and passionate business. This is a great opportunity for you to add tangible value to a business that creates great work with a clear mission: to develop the skillset and careers of young talent in the TV/Film industry. You'll be able to gain exposure to the entire finance function, while developing and preparing a business for scale.

Responsibilities:

  • Management of the financial function of the business
  • Monitor budget and cashflow alongside progress of ongoing productions
  • Create and track weekly cashflow forecasts
  • Collaborate with external payroll providers to post payroll journals
  • Produce monthly management accounts
  • Prepare statutory accounts for external filing
  • General bookkeeping (AP/AR, reconciliations, VAT returns)
  • Ad hoc tasks to support the MD of the business

What we need to see (required):

  • Previous experience using Xero
  • A passion for the creative industries!

What we'd like to see (bonus):

  • Previous experience in the Creative Industries (TV/Film/Media/Marketing)
  • Previous experience in an SME/founder lead environment

Salary: £60,000-£67,000 pro rata

Location: Central London

Hybrid: 2 days in office, 1 day WFH (remote)
