Interim CFO | VC-Backed FinTech Start-Up | London

The Client

Harmonic are delighted to have been engaged by a VC-Backed FinTech Start-Up to find them an experienced Interim CFO who could start immediately for an initial 6-month contract. Last year our clients turned over £10m and this is projected to grow in the coming year by 100%. Working closely with their passionate CEO & COO, this role will require expertise when it comes to building out a finance teams and supporting on fundraising efforts.

Our client is currently working towards a Series-B fundraise and are therefore looking for a CFO who has successfully supported or led a Start-Up through fundraising at a Series A - Series C level. Having grown to over 50 employees, they are looking to continue their rapid revenue & headcount growth through 2023-24. Their service is unique in the FinTech space, setting them apart from competition and gives them the potential to become a market leader and household name. Based out of their London HQ, our client is offering a flexible hybrid model with the ideal candidate being able to visit the office 2 days per week, although they are willing to consider fully remote candidates with exceptionally relevant experience.

The Role

Our client currently has a Finance Controller and a Management Accountant in their finance team, and this position will be the oversight of these as they go through their year end audit process. The successful candidate must have an innate ability to partner with not only the CEO, but also other members of the senior leadership team across the company including COO, CTO, & other heads of departments. This role is targeted towards a CFO who isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves and get hands on across all areas of finance when required.

Duties

  • Oversee all aspects of the finance function.
  • Support the talented CEO with the Series-B fundraise.
  • Setting up robust forecasting and planning models to support business strategy and fundraising.
  • Challenge and update the existing financial model.
  • Partner with the CEO and other members of the Senior Leadership Team to deliver insightful financial and commercial updates.
  • Ensure successful delivery of the year end audit.
  • Manage & upskill Financial Controller and Management Accountant.
  • Oversee reporting to debt provider and external investors.

Essential Experience

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA,ACCA,CIMA)
  • At least 3 years' experience as a CFO and previously managed a finance team
  • Experience with Investor relations
  • Previously worked with Banks to manage reporting requirements and meet covenants.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
  • Ability to be hands on with Balance Sheet, FP&A, and team leadership.

Bonus Experience

  • Experience as a CFO in a VC Backed Start-Up/Scale-Up
  • Previously experience as a senior finance professional in a FinTech Start-Up

Day Rate: £800-£1100/day (Inside IR35)
