Interim CFO | Elite UK Venture Capital firm | Immediate Start

The Client

Harmonic are delighted to have been engaged by a top tier UK VC firm to find them an experienced Interim CFO who could start immediately for an initial 6-month contract. With a broad scope of start-up businesses within their portfolio, our client requires the expertise of a qualified accountant to deliver an airtight P&L forecast for all the group entities whilst also leading on the development of financial models used to investigate new potential investors.

Our client's portfolio has scaled significantly over the past 2-3 years and are passionate about supporting the early stage Start-Up community within the UK, especially during the current fundraising climate. With the majority of their portfolio residing in the Tech space, they are looking for someone who has previously worked within a tech start-up or takes an active interest in the VC-back tech landscape.

The role

The CFO role will have full ownership of the accounting along with a more strategic element, acting as a trusted advisor to both the CEO and Board. Crucially, the CFO will be heavily involved in developing detailed business plans for new investments including comprehensive analysis of existing financials and the potential return on investment.

Duties

• Oversee all aspects of the finance function.
• Develop and manage detailed P&L for the group.
• Partner with the CEO and other members of the Senior Leadership Team to build the financial and commercial strategy.
• Own the FP&A (financial forecasting, budgeting, modelling etc.).
• Offer mentorship and upskill the finance teams/founders within the portfolio.
• Actively look to improve cost efficiencies and drive process improvement.
• Manage the internal finance team.

Essential Experience

• Qualified Accountant (ACA,ACCA, or CIMA)
• Previous experience as a Group Finance Director or Chief Financial Officer.
• Track record of managing and building out finance teams.
• Ability to challenge the CEO and other stakeholders when required.
• Ability to be hands on Balance Sheet, FP&A, and team leadership.
• Experience as a senior finance professional within a Venture Capital firm or VC-backed Start-Up.

Day Rate: £800-£1000/day (Inside IR35)
