The business aims to offer a customer experience on a par with the Soho House group.
The role presents a fantastic career development opportunity in that this will be considered as an 'audition' to become the Finance Director and right hand or the Founder.
The Business:
The estate, boasting over 7,000 acres, is currently under refurbishment with a goal to being one of the leading hospitality ventures in the United Kingdom. The hands on owner is a successful fund manager and has raised £11 million since being assigned to develop the estate. The plan for the estate's development has been split into three phases, to refurbish and develop multiple sites for different styles of accommodation, a private members club and a luxury farm shop on the site (in the style of Soho Farmhouse).
Based on the outskirts of Edinburgh, 20 minutes drive away from the city centre, the estate is home to stunning countryside views, with an aim to providing classic but modern accommodation for their guests. The owner has huge ambitions for the business and has a commitment to environmental sustainability highlighted by their goal to become B Corp certified in the near future.
The Role:
The head of Finance and Commercial Operations will be in charge of several revenue streams and therefore will need to understand the need for separate P&Ls for construction / refurb, retail and food and beverage. The role is a hybrid one, with a minimum of 2 days a week expected to be in the office on site. You will be working closely with the Founder, a true visionary in the industry, so it is important to be a strong and dynamic communicator.
The Duties:
- Establishment of high quality financial planning and analysis (FP&A).
- Creation of segmented management accounts for the different business units (accommodation, retail, food and beverage)
- Budgeting and managing the capex through construction development period.
- Strict cost control across all departments
- Strong commercial business skills - e.g. analysing and proposing new service lines, developing financial insights
- Strong interest in Tech and ability to implement new systems, analysis of data, performance and projections
- Analysis of new business opportunities
What we need to see:
- Fully qualified (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
- Outward facing personality
- Strong communication skills
What we'd like to see (bonus):
- Previous experience in Hospitality, Travel or Commercial Real Estate
Salary: £60,000 - £70,000 + bonus
