Head of Finance | Rapid Growth Ecommerce Business | London/Remote

Harmonic Finance are delighted to be working exclusively with a rapidly scaling ecommerce business who are looking for a Head of Finance to build out a best-in-class finance function to prepare the business for its next stage of growth.

They have recently closed a Series A in the region of £5-8 million which will help them achieve continued expansion. They have also been given runway for a multi-million Series B, which as the Head of Finance you will play a significant role in closing.

The business has developed a cutting-edge well-being product and are about to roll-out a new product which incorporates SaaS technology, which has recorded healthy pre-orders.

Culturally the team foster a dynamic and welcoming environment and take a modern approach to work-life balance; the Head of Finance will be allowed to work remotely, with a couple of visits to the London office a month.

The Role:

The Head of Finance will work closely with the CEO to play a crucial role in scaling the business.

Currently the business has a part-time Finance Director and an outsourced finance function. As the Head of Finance, you will be responsible for bringing the finance function in-house and building out a team. One of your first tasks will be to hire a bookkeeper who can manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.

There is plenty of commercial exposure in this position, with the chance to significantly influence both the commercial and financial strategy of the company. This is the ideal opportunity for an Accountant who loves working in a dynamic start-up environment who would thrive in building out controls, financial processes as well as acting as a true business partner to the CEO.

As the business continues to scale the CEO is keen for the Head of Finance to progress quickly to Finance Director as you build a team.

Duties

  • Bring the month-end and management accounting process in-house and own the production and completion of these tasks
  • Establish forecasting and budgeting processes across the business
  • Build out and continuously improve financial analysis looking at particular product lines and geographical regions (establishing detailed FP&A)
  • Produce and present key Management Information and Board Packs with insightful analysis
  • Improve stock and inventory reporting
  • Implement robust financial controls and reporting processes
  • Own the production of statutory accounts (IFRS)
  • Support the business as they expand into new markets ensuring international compliance
  • Support on future fundraising rounds
  • Extensive ad-hoc projects to drive growth

Essential:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Qualified Accountant (ACA. CIMA. ACCA)
  • Experience building and improving processes
  • Broad commercial and technical skill set

Non-Essential:

  • Previous experience in FMCG, e-commerce, food & beverage, fashion, retail sectors
  • Worked in a fast growth start-up or scale-up (any sector including Tech)
  • Has a passion for plant-based products and healthy, sustainable living

Salary: £70,000 - £80,000 + share options
