The Client
Harmonic are delighted to be working with one of the UKs largest growing Financial Services businesses in the UK Brokerage space. The business has doubled year on year with both headcount and growth figures to support. In the past year the headcount has doubled to almost 40 team members now in the business. This growth wouldn't have been possible without the increase in turnover year on year. Last year the business turned over £1.8 Million, this year doubled that, and have forecast to hit £10M by end of year 2024.
This role offers the opportunity to join a charismatic Managing Director who is looking for someone to join the team and take one an all-round lead on the businesses finance. This role offers the ability to continue building what is already a super friendly and inclusive working environment based in the heart of Central Birmingham.
The role
As Number 1 in finance, you will need a hands-on approach to finance and a mindset of getting your hands stick into all aspects of finance. You will oversee all the accounts that the business has with its existing and new clients, managing all the behind-the-scenes finances on these. This overall approach to the role will also enable the opportunity to work with the various other parts of the business when it comes to planning and making strategic decisions.
This role offers the perfect opportunity to take on a blend of technical accounting as well as commercial finance. Away from technical finance, this opportunity offers the chance to shape and mould the overall shape and plan of the business over the next few years. Both supporting and advising the Managing Director closely as the business grows long term.
Responsibilities
- Establish and uphold comprehensive financial guidelines and procedures that align withthe businesses goals and industry best practices.
- Review financial data meticulously and compile monthly and annual reports that provide valuable insights and expectations to senior team members, supporting both short-term and long-term decision-making.
- Safeguard and oversee a range of financial resources, including block discounting, overdrafts, and other funding avenues, to ensure the organization's financial well-being.
- Evaluate costs, pricing, variable contributions, sales outcomes, and real performance compared to business plans. Develop trends and projections to guide financial strategies.
- Conduct in-depth assessments and appraisals to pinpoint opportunities for reducing costs and enhancing operational efficiency.
- Supervise the creation of the company's budget while collaborating closely with Managing Director to align financial plans with the organization's objectives.
- Maintain open lines of communication with block auditors to ensure the accurate and ongoing monitoring of the company's financial health.
- Collaborate with various company departments, engaging in discussions concerning corporate strategies and reaching a consensus on the way forward.
