Group Financial Controller| Fast-Growth Renewable Energy Scale-Up | London
The Company
Harmonic are proud to be working with an incredibly exciting renewable energy scale-up circa £30m turnover. After a strong 2022 and H1 2023, they are now looking to capitalise on their strong market position.
The business comprises an extremely ambitious and high-calibre leadership team that has grown the business with its ambitious approach to Net Zero. They are an enabler to pioneering renewable technology all over the UK & Ireland and will play a pivotal role in the UK's plans of reaching Net Zero 2050.

Based out of their London office, they are looking for a candidate who prefers a hybrid work model and can travel into the office 3 days per week. Team collaboration is important for them as the company enters a significant period of growth.
The Role
The Group Financial Controller will work closely with the CEO, CFO and Group FD to drive growth. You will need to be an exceptionally driven and ambitious senior Finance person, that is not only very hands-on with technical accounting but simultaneously commercially astute.
Although you will be ably supported by a talented finance team, due to the development stage of the business there is a real 'hands-on deck' approach. While much of your time will be spent on complex commercial accounting/modelling and working with the big-4 advisors on the audit and tax support, you may also be required from time to time to supervise more practical tasks like payroll etc. Polymaths with great academic backgrounds and excellent communication skills will fare well here!
Duties:
- Ensure Financial Strategy is implemented according to business plans
- Responsible for the day-to-day control of the function, including all budget activities
- Have overall responsibility for a team carrying consolidation and production of monthly management accounts for the Group; Group financial statements for the half and full year; Treasury function managing Group cash and FX; UK transactional accounting and reporting; Indirect taxes and production of subsidiary accounts for the UK entities.
- Ensure all variances to budgetary reporting are investigated and actioned
- Manage the financial systems of the Group, looking to improve functionality and process and control
- Line management of team members throughout the complete employee lifecycle and ensure compliance with all Company policies and procedures
- Provide leadership and guidance to controllers across the Group
- Manage the relationship with external and internal auditors
- Liaise with other departments to solve issues and ensure smooth processing of transactions
- Support the CFO with the financial results and analysis as well as IR support
- Deputise for CFO as and when required
What we need to see (essential):
- ACA, ACCA, CIMA Qualified
- Track record of contributing to a successful audit for a business with a large and complex balance sheet.
- Experience of working at Financial Controller level or above in a business with a complex multi-entity structure.
- Proven track record of thriving in a fast-paced, scaling business
- Strong technical accounting and financial control background.
- A genuine passion for placing data / B.I. at the forefront of finance strategy.
What we'd like to see (bonus)
- Experience working in the Renewable Energy / Energy sector
- Previous experience of working in a listed business
- Private equity portfolio company experience would be of benefit.
Salary: £100,000 + £115,000 + Bonus
Location: London Hybrid (3 days in office)
