Financial Controller | Rapidly Scaling VC Backed Online Marketplace | London / Remote

We are delighted to be working on an exclusive basis with an incredibly high growth online marketplace with offices in London, the US, Europe and Asia. With prominent VC funds backing them, the company has achieved staggering growth of 7x YoY! Having recently undergone this significant period of growth they are now looking for an experienced Financial Controller to own BAU finance and bring the finance function up to speed with this new phase of growth.

This start-up has ambitions to become the go to marketplace in its sector and has already raised over $6m in a series A round to give them a strong platform for growth. The company has a young, fun culture and supports travel to its international offices particularly across Europe!

Now they are looking to hire a top tier Financial Controller to run operational finance, continue to build the finance function, and support their continued expansion. The role

Reporting to the CFO the Financial Controller will ultimately be responsible for all things finance, managing a growing team and crucially leading the business through a period of scale and delivering on a number of finance projects. You will need to be hands-on in your approach with a clear 'roll your sleeves up' start-up mentality as you will have a broad remit including reporting, ad-hoc analysis, and fundraising support.

You will be working closely with the CFO and investors on numerous high-level projects whilst remaining in the detail of the business managing the company from an operational finance standpoint.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the company for their first audit by implementing tighter financial controls and smoother finance processes across the business.
• Own the day-to-day running of the 'BAU' finance function, including delivery of monthly P&L, management accounts, rolling cash flow forecasts, treasury and transactional finance / payroll.
• Deliver historical information and commentary for key stakeholders [Board, shareholders, etc].
• Manage a variety of finance projects to help futureproof the business potentially including a company-wide systems implementation.
• Build a best-in-class finance team to support the company as it scales through it's next phase of growth.

What need to see (essential)

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA Qualified Accountant.
• Proven track record of thriving in a fast-paced, scaling business.
• Strong technical accounting and financial control background with track record of implementing processes and controls.
• Passionate about building and retaining teams with a strong mentoring capacity.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to challenge decisions when necessary.

What we would like to see (bonus)

• Experience working in SaaS or Online Marketplace sectors.
• Private Equity or Venture Capital portfolio company experience a benefit.
• Working on a systems implementation project beneficial.
• Spanish language skills beneficial but no essential.

Salary: £75,000 - £85,000 + bonus + equity
