Harmonic Finance are delighted to have been retained by one of the most exciting and purpose driven fintech start-ups in the UK to secure their first finance hire. Utilising the use of transformative Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology, they are transforming how companies engage and manage customers in financial difficulty, and are driven by their mission to improve the financial health of customers across the UK and Europe.
Having attracted almost £10m in funding from elite Venture Capital firms, they've just been acquired by Europe's market leader in the industry, which presents the exciting opportunity to accelerate a period of significant scale and launch across the continent.
As part of the B Corp movement, they're pending certification, which is testament to how they put purpose above just profit and have in turn created an excellent company culture of employees that love working for the business while driving their careers forwards. They've scaled to a team of 30 and are now looking for their first dedicated finance hire.
The Role
The Financial Controller will report directly to the CEO/Founder and lead on all financial aspects of the business including financial reporting, control, FP&A, cash flow management, capital allocation and strategic initiatives. Leading the overall finance function, the Financial Controller will have the opportunity to build out a world class finance function.
Responsibilities
- A key part of the leadership team responsible for the successful growth of the business
- Responsible for maintaining robust financial controls and reporting processes
- Manage and build out a world class finance team
- Responsible for the delivery of timely, accurate month-end and management accounting
- Work closely with the business to deliver the budget and forecasting moving forwards
- Identify value-adding insights to support with the production of long-term strategic planning
- Completion of the annual statutory accounts and delivery of the audit process
- Continuous process improvement and automation to enable to business to scale
- Own day-to-day finance operations, including AP, AR and payroll
- Own and continually redefine the KPI, financial, operational and board reporting
- Support with the implementation of a new ERP system as the business enters the next phase of expansion
- Extensive ad-hoc projects to support the business as they scale
What we need to see (Essential):
- Fully Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
- Excellent communication skills with an ability to present well internally and externally
- Strong leader
- Excited by technology start-ups
- Willingness to roll your sleeves up and get stuck in across Finance
- Highly commercially astute
Salary: £75,000 - £90,000 + benefits
