Financial Controller | Fast Growth Sustainable Food & Bev Scale-Up | London/Hybrid

Harmonic Finance are excited to be working with one of the most exciting food and beverage scale-ups in London. Focussed on high quality organic ingredients and sustainable consumption they are increasingly establishing themselves as the 'best of the best' in the baby food industry ensuring our little ones are getting nothing but the most nutritious and tasty food!

With a global brand turning over $100m the UK & Ireland business is growing at 100% Year on Year and is expected to achieve nearly £8m in 2022.

Alongside the appeal of the product and with many of their competitors struggling to fulfil their orders our client is in a unique position with their global reach and buying power alongside a model which sources their own raw materials to capitalise on the opportunity as they remain largely unaffected. This has resulted in advanced discussions with the UK's largest supermarket and already stocked in Ocado, Sainsbury, Amazon and Lidl they could find themselves growing at well beyond the 100% they delivered in the last two years!

The UK team has grown from 20 to 35 in the last 12 months and is full of passionate people who are proud of building the next F&B success story but also connect with the mission to bring healthier products into the Baby Food space.

Role:

The Financial Controller will report directly into the Group CEO and will, on a day-to-day basis, work closely with the UK Commercial Director. The Financial Controller will be integral in driving commercial insight and performance offering a clear route into Head of Finance as the business scales.

With ownership of the UK & Ireland Finance function the Financial Controller will, with the support of a Management Accountant, own month-end, management accounting and financial controls. However, the key value add will be in producing FP&A, financial modelling, financial analysis and KPI's to support improved decision making and growth. In driving performance this will involve extensive Business Partnering with Sales, Marketing and Supply Chain teams supporting with negotiation and establishing relationships with new retailers.

Responsibilities:

  • Management of the month end process and control of the P&L producing monthly management accounts
  • Own the production of forecasting and planning (FP&A)
  • Analyse customer profitability and gross margin while rolling out additional KPI's to support decision making
  • Build out cash flow forecasting and financial models
  • Ownership of the budgeting process
  • Develop and mentor the Management Accountant
  • Business Partner with the leadership team, sales team and marketing teams
  • Support the leadership team with the negotiation of contracts as they begin to partner with more retailers
  • Implement robust financial controls and oversee the year end reporting process working closely with auditors to ensure tax compliance
  • Continuously look for ways to streamline and improve processes
  • Prepare the business for further international expansion

What we need to see (essential):

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
  • Experience working with a start-up or scale-up business
  • Confident leading month end close process
  • Commercially astute
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Willingness to be hands on

What we'd like to see (bonus):

  • Experience working within Food & Bev or FMCG
  • Passionate about working in a fast-paced environment
  • Values lead and keen to be part of a business which can have a genuinely positive social impact
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Prior experience with Oracle Cloud would be advantageous

Salary: Up to £75,000 + bonus + share options

Start date: ASAP
