Financial Controller | Fast-Growth Cycling Business | London

Harmonic are delighted to be working closely with a scaling Cycling business, having experienced some recent growth they are now are looking for a Financial Controller to head up the finance function.

The Business:

We are currently partnering with a start-up Cycling company who have interests in the ecommerce, retail and the subscription market. They were founded by a renowned, driven entrepreneur who has an excellent track record in scaling companies.

The business, currently remotely working will transition to a hybrid model of working from home and in the office. You will be joining a team that is passionate about cycling and who are very determined to grow the business exponentially. Having recently launched in new European territories and diversifying their product offering, this is an exciting opportunity to get in at the ground level of a dynamic start-up.

The Role:

Initially there will be an interim Finance Director who will be on hand to provide a detailed handover. Once you are up to speed they will leave the company, making way for this position to be the number 1 in finance with a clear pathway to Finance Director in the future. As such, it's integral that you have great communication skills as you will be responsible for business partnering closely with the Senior Management team and Owner on the commercial and financial strategy of the company. In the future you will also play an integral role in supporting on investment rounds.

The role is split equally between commercial financial analysis and the management accounting/bookkeeping. You will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day running of the finance function, producing the management accounts and some of the bookkeeping (although there are a low number of invoices). Where you will add true value is with the high amount of commercial finance work, you will take full responsibility for budgeting, forecasting, profitability analysis and cashflow. All of this with the goal in mind of expanding and growing the company.

Duties:

Your duties will include but not be limited to:

• Producing the monthly management accounts

• Business partnering with the CEO on setting the commercial and financial strategy

• Building out a finance function

• Bookkeeping responsibilities (low volume)

• Full responsibility for the FP&A (budgeting, forecasting, cashflow)

• Providing commercial analysis and developing KPIs.

• Driving profitability initiatives through the business

• Taking a proactive approach to improving processes and procedures.

• Supporting on future investment rounds.

• Ad-hoc projects

What we need to see (essential):

• ACA Qualified (ideally)

• Or, ACCA or CIMA qualified

• Strong communication skills.

• Proactive mindset with entrepreneurial drive

• Experience in either Ecommerce, Retail, Cycling or Media industry.

What we'd like to see (bonus):

• Xero experience

Salary: £55,000 - £65,000
