Financial Controller | Hyper Growth Insurtech Start-Up (Series B) | London

Harmonic Finance are delighted to be working on a retained basis with one of the UK's leading insurtech start-ups. Having just closed a £45m Series B, attracting a host of top-tier Venture Captial firms, they're fueling their next phase of growth and in turn are expanding their finance team with a key position.

Through a flexible and customizable model built for the digital age, they've become a new force in the insurance industry and their fuss-free service, powered by proprietary machine learning technology is now providing cover for a growing list of top SMEs. Off the back of 70% employee growth in 12 months to 150, the recent large fundraise in a tough macroeconomic environment is a huge vote of confidence from elite investors in what they're building and will now underpin further international expansion.

The role:

Reporting directly to an experienced Head of Finance and working closely with an extremely highly regarded CFO, both with extensive experience in the Insurance industry, this role presents the opportunity to learn and have a real impact in an exceptional team.

In a role that will have exposure to many different aspects of finance, from budgeting/forecasting, to financial reporting and commercial finance, this is perfect for somebody who wants to get 'stuck in' and become a key part of a rapidly scaling team.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the production of monthly management accounts
  • Responsible for maintaining robust financial controls and reporting processes as the business scales
  • Support with the implementation of financial planning and analysis (FP&A)
  • Lead and present in monthly accounting meetings
  • Involvement in the budgeting and forecasting process
  • Continuously review and implement process improvements to drive automation across finance
  • Support with the new ERP system implementation as the business enters the next phase of expansion
  • Identify value-adding insights and data analysis to support with the production of long-term strategic planning
  • Effective management and development of a junior team
  • Support the CFO with Investor and Board reporting and future fundraising projects
  • Business Partner with various department heads
  • Extensive ad-hoc projects to support the business as they grow and the finance function expands

What we need to see (Essential):

  • Fully Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
  • Previous experience within an insurance broker
  • Extremely smart with excellent communication skills
  • Excited by tech start-ups / scale-ups
  • Incredibly ambitious with a desire to continue learning

Salary: £90,000 - £110,000
