Financial Controller | Elite Fintech Scale-Up (Crypto) | London
We are delighted to be working with one of the most exciting 'unicorns' in fintech as they scale their finance function. As one of the leading market makers in the world as well as being a multi-stage investor themselves, they have over 10 years' experience in digital assets and have a track record of working with some of the top cryptocurrency exchanges (40+), institutional investors, miners and token issuers.
Headquartered in a state-of-the-art new office in Central London, with offices also in the US, Switzerland and Singapore, they've leapt from a headcount of 100 in early 2021, to more than 250 today in 5 countries, and are looking to continue on this trajectory.
With a team made up of some of the industry's best from both a traditional financial services and a fintech start-up background, they're now scaling their finance function and are searching for a Financial Controller to support them through their next phase of growth. With a very non-corporate environment, you will have the freedom to make an impact on your own whilst learning from and getting advice from an exceptional leadership team.
The role
The Financial Controller will be joining a small, dynamic team, reporting directly to their VP of Finance and working closely with an experienced Finance Director. No two days are the same and being hands-on is expected. You will have a solid opportunity to make a difference within the Finance function, taking on responsibility and independence from the outset to improve and automate processes within in the function.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for maintaining robust financial controls and reporting processes (preparation, analysis, review and presentation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting)
- Identify value-adding insights to support with the production of long-term strategic planning
- Continuously review and implement process improvements to drive automation across finance
- Support with Investor and Board reporting and future fundraising projects
- Preparation and analysis of financial statements, including resolving technical accounting issues and liaising with auditors
- Ownership of legal entity reporting requirements
- Support with the implementation of a new ERP system
- Work closely with the rest of the finance function on the production of Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) and the budgeting and forecasting process
- Work closely with the tax team to assist with filing requirements
- Extensive ad-hoc projects to support the business as they grow and the finance function expands
What we need to see (essential):
- Fully Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
- Extremely smart with excellent communication skills
- Willingness to roll your sleeves up and get stuck in across Finance
- Incredibly ambitious with a desire to continue learning
- Excited by tech start-ups / scale-ups (particularly crypto)
What we would like to see (Bonus):
- Experience in either a fintech start-up/scale-up or in financial services
Salary: £85,000 - £100,000 + bonus (x2 annually)
