Financial Controller | High-Growth Biotech Scale-up | Oxfordshire/Hybrid
The Client:
Harmonic is excited to be working with an incredibly high-growth listed Biotech scale-up based in Oxfordshire. Having raised a substantial series B two years ago they are now a publicly listed clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company.
Our clients discover and develop immunotherapeutic products and vaccines for the treatment and prevention of infectious diseases and cancers. They were involved and jointly developed a COVID-19 vaccine where they partnered with Oxford University Innovation. They further run clinical studies to explore treatments for patients with a number of different infections and are looking to develop vaccines that are intended to work against every strain of the flu virus.
The Role:
Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, you will be a key member of the UK finance team. You will be working closely with the Group Financial Controller for the month-end internal reporting accompanied by the external quarterly and annual reporting.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in designing and implementing the financial processes/systems to support the business while further supporting the CFO on projects including the implementation of SOX 404a and working with the other members of the team to ensure compliance with the UK Statutory accounts and tax returns with HMRC.

Responsibilities:
- Preparation of the UK accounts.
- Preparation/review of month-end, including management accounts, reporting to the Group Financial Controller.
- Partnering with the Head of Reporting for the preparation of the financial statements for UK statutory filing requirements.
- Responsible for UK tax compliance, including R&D tax credits.
- Review and submission of quarterly VAT returns.
- Producing financial information to the head of departments/programme operations.
- Implementing financial processes in accordance with SOX 404a.
- Support the Group's external audit process.
What we need to see (Essential):
- ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified.
- 5 years experience working within finance.
- knowledge of and passion for the biotech industry.
- knowledge and experience of UK GAAP and IFRS.
- SOX experience.
What we would like to see (Bonus):
- knowledge of SAP ByDesign
- Previous experience working within Biotech or Medtech
Salary: £70,000 - £80,000 + Stock Options
