Job description

Finance Manager | UK & US Listed Biotech Start-Up | £55,000-£60,000 + Bonus | London

The Company

Harmonic are delighted to be partnering exclusively with an exciting London-based Biotech start-up to recruit a Finance Manager.

This company recently achieved "public" status in the US and will be aiming for a dual listing with another soon to happen in the UK. This business specialises in the development of game-changing medical treatment for a very common (severely undiagnosed) health condition; earlier in the year, another business within their group was lauded for its contribution to the combat against Covid-19.

This start-up has a small team across the UK and US and you will play a key role in supporting the CFO and Board. The company have several very exciting plans in the short to mid-term that could help expand their portfolio whilst offering plenty of career progression opportunities for you.

This businesses' HQ is in Central London. You will be working on a hybrid-working model with 3 days in the office and 2 from home.

The Role

Reporting into the CFO, you will oversee all financial activities for the business which includes transactional finance, monthly & quarterly reporting, board pack reports and US SOX and GAAP accounting (financial accounting).

  • Oversee month end and monthly reporting
  • Oversee trial balance and bank reconciliations
  • Compliance reporting, corporate tax returns, VAT & payroll taxes
  • Statutory financial reporting
  • Cashflow forecasting and budgeting
  • Oversee Accounts Payable for the business
  • Manage and present board pack reports

To be considered for this role (essential requirements):

  • Be a qualified Accountant with strong technical/financial accounting skills (this is really important because of the ownership you will have over financial statements and SOX/US GAAP compliance).
  • Be comfortable travelling to Central London 3 days a week
  • Have either worked for a start-up OR be looking to leave a "Top 50" Accounting practice.
  • Be highly passionate about working for a small but fast growing technology business

What we'd like to see (Bonus):

  • Accounting for US & UK listed business
  • Prior experience working for a Biotech/Healthtech/Medical Device start up

Due to the high number of expected applicants, your applicant will only be considered if you meet the essential criteria, please review this before applying. You can contact Dan Rahemtulla at for more information.
