Finance Director| Rapid Growth Medical Technology Company | London/Hybrid

Harmonic are delighted to be working on an exclusive basis with a rapid growth medical devices company in their search for a Finance Director. Our client uses innovative technology to develop lifesaving medical devices, offering customers diagnostics on personal health. Their mission is to make personalised healthcare instant and affordable for the public, offering hospital grade technology for at-home use.

Following a recent £1million fundraise from a renowned venture capital fund, our client is looking for an experienced Finance Director to lead the finance department. Working in tandem with an ambitious CEO, the successful candidate will assist in future fundraises and guide the growth strategy of the business from a financial perspective. Our client is in an exciting position to scale-up in 2023, with sight on the successful candidate being instrumental to further growth of the company and the finance team.

The Role:

The Finance Director will be responsible for all elements of commercial finance to advise the best steps for the companies continued growth. You will deliver Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A), Financial Modelling and Business Partnering with the manufacturing and sales teams. This role offers direct exposure to senior stakeholders and is largely autonomous so the ideal candidate will be someone who thrives in these environments.

This number 1 in finance position will design and constantly looks at ways to improve financial processes and controls to ensure "best practice" within the business. There will be scope to further build out the team to take ownership of these functions further as the business continues to scale, leaving the successful candidate in this role to focus on projects such as the business' goal of international expansion.

Directly leading a small team, the ideal candidate is a mentor and approachable figure who the team can look for leadership in difficult periods. As is the case with all SMEs, there is a constant fast pace that the ideal candidate will need to be able to thrive in and be a leadership figure for the rest of the team.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic analysis of budgets and forecasts.
  • Support the CEO on Investor and Board reporting and future fundraising
  • Development of company Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) function
  • Oversee annual audit and month end processes
  • Develop high quality financial modelling
  • Implement insightful KPI's and analysis to drive improved decision making
  • Provide effective Business Partnering to Manufacturing, Sales and Tech teams
  • Support the CEO with Investor and Board reporting and future fundraising projects
  • Manage the team to deliver the completion of statutory reporting
  • Liaise with auditors and third-party advisors to deliver tax returns
  • Constant evaluation and improvement of financial controls and processes
  • Project management of implementation of new financial systems
  • Build, mentor and develop an excellent team as the business grows

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Financial Controller or Financial Director in a tech or product-based start-up/scale-up.
  • Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA).
  • Commercially astute with strong financial analysis experience.
  • Ambitious, clear communicator.
  • Ambitious and 'understands' the 'chaos' that life in a start-up involves!

Bonus skills:

  • Experience in medical devices or medical technology industry.
  • Exposure to both Financial Controls and FP&A
  • Previously supported the implementation of a new ERP system.

Salary: £80,000 - £95,000 + share options + benefits

Location: London (hybrid)
