Role: Data Engineer

Harmonic is delighted to partner with a cutting-edge central London fast-growth media agency, in its search for a Data Engineer. They are looking for someone with proven experience in the development, maintenance, and testing of data pipelines and most importantly passionate about all things data!
To hit the ground running in this role, you will possess solid data warehousing experience, ideally with cloud-based data storage systems such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Azure, or AWS.

Job Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and implement scalable and efficient data pipelines to extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from various sources into the data warehouse
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and ensure the pipelines meet business needs
- Contribute to the construction and optimisation of an Azure-based data warehouse, ensuring it aligns with industry best practices and scalability requirements.
- Work closely with architects and database administrators to design and implement a robust and scalable data architecture
- Continuously optimise ETL processes for better performance, efficiency, and reliability
- Implement and maintain data quality checks and validation processes to ensure accuracy and completeness of data within the data warehouse
- Develop and execute testing strategies for data pipelines to identify and rectify anomalies
Skills and experience:
- Proficiency in ETL tools such as Azure Data Factory, Apache NiFi, Talend, or similar tools for designing and managing data pipelines
- Experience with Azure SQL Data Warehouse or similar cloud-based data warehousing solutions
- Knowledge of data warehousing concepts, star schema, and snowflake schema design
- Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, SQL, and optionally Java or Scala for scripting and data manipulation
- Hands-on experience with Azure services, including Azure Blob Storage, Azure SQL Database, Azure Databricks, and Azure Data Lake Storage
- Proficiency in working with relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, Azure SQL Database) and understanding of database optimisation techniques
- Experience in designing and implementing data models
Salary: £55,000 - £65,000 + Benefits
