With a passionate team and a certified commitment to doing business for good, they're scaling fast and looking for a hands-on, strategic Controller to help shape the future of their finance function.
The Role
As Controller, you'll play a key leadership role within a lean, collaborative finance team. This is a highly visible and high-impact position where you'll own all aspects of accounting operations, lead a small but mighty team, and work closely with the VP of Finance to drive strategic decision-making. You'll have the opportunity to build and refine processes, implement best-in-class systems, and influence the financial direction of a company that's experiencing explosive growth and constant innovation.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all accounting operations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, and cash management
- Lead month-end close, annual budgeting, and quarterly forecasting processes
- Establish and maintain cost accounting standards across inventory and manufacturing
- Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements and management reports
- Partner cross-functionally with operations, R&D, and leadership to support new product launches and optimize financial performance
- Drive process improvements and ensure compliance with US GAAP and internal controls
- Manage, mentor, and develop a small accounting team
- Partner with external auditors and tax advisors to ensure timely and accurate reporting
What We Need to See (Essential)
- Proven experience as a Controller or Senior Accounting Manager in a fast-paced CPG, manufacturing, or consumer-facing environment
- Strong technical accounting background and deep understanding of cost accounting
- Advanced Excel skills, with the ability to model complex scenarios and analyze large data sets
- Ability to guide and motivate teams in a collaborative, entrepreneurial culture
- Exceptional communication skills and a proactive, hands-on approach
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
What We'd Like to See (Bonus)
- Experience with ERP systems such as Fishbowl, QuickBooks Enterprise, or NetSuite
- Exposure to inventory-heavy or production environments
- Interest in mission-driven or sustainability-focused businesses
- CPA preferred but not required
Location: Minneapolis, MN - Hybrid First 90 Days On-Site
Package: $130,000 - $180,000 + Bonus
