The Client

Harmonic is excited to partner exclusively with one of the fastest growing PR Agencies in Boston in their search for a Controller to join their growing team. This agency supports major financial clients in Boston, New York, and Chicago. Equipped with an in office AI team this business creates a new standard of innovation that will pave the way for its competitors. Exciting plans ahead with plans to take the business international within the next 3 years and significantly increase headcount to support new business wins.

The Role

As a key business partner to the CFO, you'll oversee the accounting function and serve as a business partner to the Director of FP&A. You will be responsible for managing the agency's accounting functions, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting, while providing strategic financial insights to guide senior leadership in decision-making. In addition, you will manage cash flow and working capital to maintain liquidity, mitigate financial risks, and ensure adherence to relevant financial regulations. Leading and mentoring a dynamic finance team, you will drive a culture of efficiency, continuous improvement, and operational excellence across the department. Your expertise in financial strategy and analysis will be key in supporting the agency's long-term business goals and growth initiatives.

  • Develop and implement financial strategies that align with the agency's broader business goals, ensuring financial stability and performance.
  • Oversee the preparation and management of the annual budget and quarterly forecasts, ensuring financial targets are met and adjusting projections based on changing business conditions.
  • Prepare and present accurate financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow analysis, providing actionable insights for senior leadership.
  • Manage the agency's cash flow and working capital, ensuring adequate liquidity to support day-to-day operations and strategic investments, and identify opportunities to enhance cash flow efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and accounting standards, working closely with senior leadership to identify and mitigate financial risks.
  • Partner with internal departments to identify cost-saving opportunities, optimize financial processes, and support new business initiatives with thorough financial analysis.
  • Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, professional growth, and operational excellence within the department.

Required:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • Strong Analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present financial data to both financial and non-financial teams.
  • A growth-oriented mindset and a positive attitude.

Bonus (not required) Skills:

  • Experience with accounting software and financial systems commonly used in creative agencies (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, or similar platforms).
  • Previous experience in the creative industries (e.g., PR, media, marketing, advertising, TV & film, or music).

Salary & Benefits:

  • Salary: $190,000-$220,000 (commensurate with experience) + bonus + benefits
  • Location: Boston (Hybrid model)
  • Start Date: ASAP
