Commercial Finance Manager | PE-Backed, High-Growth CPG | NYC (Hybrid)

The Role:

The Commercial Finance Manager will play a key role in driving financial analysis and strategic business partnership across the commercial organization. Reporting to the Head of Finance, this role will be instrumental in maximizing revenue, market share, and profitability as the company scales.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner closely with sales, marketing, and innovation teams to provide financial guidance and influence key business decisions.
  • Analyze customer and channel profitability, helping refine pricing strategies and product mix to maximize growth.
  • Manage customer and category-level profit and loss statements, delivering insights to drive revenue growth and improve profit margins.
  • Utilize trade promotion planning and management tools to assess and optimize profitability across customers and sales channels.
  • Prepare and present financial reports, offering insights on business trends, risks, and opportunities to senior leadership.
  • Identify cost-saving and margin-improvement opportunities within the commercial organization.
  • Enhance financial reporting tools and dashboards to provide real-time visibility into key performance metrics.
  • Lead the commercial finance portion of monthly business reviews, ensuring financial alignment with strategic goals.
  • Evaluate the financial impact of new product launches, market expansion, and promotional initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain financial models to assess promotional efficiency, marketing ROI, and commercial performance.
  • Contribute to ad-hoc financial analysis and special projects that support long-term business strategy.

What we need to see (essential):

  • At least 5 years of experience in finance within the CPG and/or retail sectors, including a minimum of 3 years specializing in commercial finance.
  • Proven ability to develop and manage financial models, with advanced proficiency in Excel.
  • Extensive knowledge of trade dynamics in the CPG industry, including customer negotiations, pricing structures, and promotional strategies.
  • Strong experience working closely with sales and marketing leadership to support business objectives.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and translate insights into actionable strategies that drive growth and profitability.
  • Skilled in managing relationships with stakeholders and influencing cross-functional teams.

What we would like to see (non-essential):

  • Experience with financial reporting and BI tools, industry data tools, and trade promotion management systems
  • Previous experience in a high-growth environment
  • D2C experience

Location: NYC - Hybrid Schedule

Salary: $120,000 - $160,000 + equity
