Chief Financial Officer| Innovative Biotech Company | London/Hybrid

Harmonic are delighted to be working on an exclusive basis with a rapid growth biotechnology business in their search for a Chief Financial Officer. Our client is aiming to develop stem-cell therapies targeting cancer and degenerative diseases.

Following a recent £15million fundraise from a renowned private equity fund, our client is looking for a hands-on CFO to work alongside the CEO to develop financial strategy and consolidate the daily finance practice. The role is incredibly broad, responsible for day-to-day finances as well as supporting in the building of commercial finance processes. There are long-term plans for a wider team to be built out underneath this person.

They plan to offer a generous equity package and bonus to the successful candidate.

The Role:

This role is very hands-on, taking ownership of Financial and Statutory Reporting whilst supporting the CEO on investor relationships and further fundraises. This role will deal directly with the board and requires someone happy to work autonomously with decision making when the CEO is not available. The selected candidate will continuously develop ways to improve the financial controls of the business whilst developing key commercial KPIs to advise the business's strategic growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Production of budgets, forecasts, and financial models.
  • Development of company Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) function.
  • Implement insightful KPI's and analysis to drive improved decision making.
  • Provide effective Business Partnering to R&D teams.
  • Support the CEO with Investor and Board reporting and future fundraising projects.
  • Lead month end, year end and audit processes.
  • Constant evaluation and improvement of financial processes.
  • Project management of implementation of ERP system.
  • Build, mentor and develop an excellent team as the business grows.

What our client would like to see (essential):

  • Previous experience as a number 1 in finance of a product-based or manufacturing business.
  • Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA).
  • Ambitious, clear communicator.
  • Proven management experience.
  • Ambitious and 'understands' the 'chaos' that life in a start-up involves!

What we'd like to see (bonus):

  • Experience in a biotechnology, medical devices or pharmaceuticals business.
  • Experience within a fast-growth SME.
  • Exposure to both Financial Controls and commercial finance.
  • Previously supported the implementation of a new ERP system.

Salary: £130,000 - £170,000 + benefits (including equity) Location: London (hybrid)
