CFO | Rapid-Growth Online Marketplace Business

Harmonic are delighted to be retained by a rapidly growing Online Marketplace business who are looking for a commercially focussed and strategical Chief Financial Officer.

The Business

Having successfully doubled turnover in the last two years to circa £65m and growing headcount to 400, this business has created a new position for a CFO. The company are renowned for their award-winning culture which is underpinned by their core key values. There is a fantastic non-corporate, dynamic culture in the company and with offices based in London, Midlands and the North, they are open to candidates from various locations across the UK.

In terms of what the business does, they operate an online marketplace within the Financial Services sector. They have become one of the go-to brands in the sector but have loftier ambitions to become true innovators in the sector. Following lengthy internal discussions and with a view to gaining potential future investment, the Board has decided that a talented CFO with either D2C/B2B2C digital experience or prior work in a regulated environment, is required to become the go-to strategic partner for the CEO.

The Role

As the CFO, you will be responsible for providing specialist financial leadership and developing a finance function that can be regarded as 'best-in-class'. There will be a firm focus on managing the FP&A, building out the business partnering capability as well as delivering insightful MI. As a core member of the Executive Committee, you will play a crucial role in setting the financial and commercial strategy - as well as identifying opportunities for strategic growth.

With a fantastic foundation to build on, one of the key priorities will be to transform the finance function into a more outward-facing, commercially integrated operation.

The business is looking to build on the extraordinary growth they've undergone and harness it to become the leading name in the market. This role will suit an ambitious and driven CFO who wants to have a pivotal role in scaling an exciting values-led business.

Duties

Your duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Contributing to the leadership team by creating an integrated planning and performance capability to drive informed and confident decision making.
  • Managing, mentoring and developing the finance team of 7.
  • Successfully delivering of the annual audit and timely and accurate filing of all statutory reporting requirements.
  • Ability to produce high-value business insights, including multi-scenario forecasts and recommendations to the CEO and Board.
  • Transforming current capabilities to a best-in-class Financial Planning and Analysis, including cash flow forecasting, profitability analysis and budgeting.
  • Driving efficiencies and process improvement.
  • Managing working capital effectively.
  • Work closely with the Data team to empower the business with insightful MI.
  • Setting the financial and commercial strategy and identify strategic growth opportunities.
  • Ensuring there are robust financial controls in place.
  • Ad-hoc projects.

What we need to see (essential):

  • Fully qualified ACA / ACCA / CIMA
  • Experience working in a business with a strong digital offering ideally Direct-to-customer.
  • Prior experience working in a regulated environment.
  • Proven track record of building and developing high-performance teams.
  • Ability to effectively manage upwards.
  • Excellent communication skills - an ability to communicate clearly and with gravitas.

Salary: £120,000 - £140,000 plus bonus and benefits
