Financial Controller | Fast Growth Fashion Business | Central London

The client

Harmonic are delighted to be working exclusively with one of the rising stars of the fashion industry in their search for a Financial Controller to join their ever-expanding team. Since being founded in 2017, they have amassed a turnover of over £20 million, which is forecast to double in two years as they seek to expand their sales from domestic markets to western Europe, having recently received the backing from a leading private equity firm.

Specialising in innovative gender-neutral apparel designs, our client has ambitions to revolutionise the way keen fashion minds views up-and-coming trends, having already won awards when up against some of the biggest players in the fashion world and received accolades for some of Milan's top designers. Based from an architecturally designed office space in Central London, the company has utilised its exclusive location to supply some of the UK's most well-regarded brands with beautiful pieces.

Our client maintains an exceptional non-corporate culture that distances itself from other firms in the industry, with various events throughout the year including exclusive dining experiences to ensure the social interaction of colleagues. With various recent C-suite hire, the business has added decades of experience to the board with fantastic mentors.

The role

You will be responsible for playing a vital role within the finance team who have immediate expansion to the continent as their main priority, providing an important challenge to the right candidate. Ultimately working with the CFO and other senior management to build upon the exponential growth experienced in recent years, you will gain further analytical experience as you progress within the role, with anticipation of advancing into Finance Director with a higher degree of autonomy and continued impact on the business.

Responsibilities include

Producing monthly financial reports for relevant external bodies

Producing monthly management accounts

Producing and monitoring budgets and forecasts

Support the month-end and year-end processes

Ensuring long-term funds are in place for expansion

Utilising data analytical software to produce financial projections

Multi-currency fund management

Continuously review company approaches to financial management

Assisting board members in their work with private equity funds

Overseeing colleagues in AR and AP

Supporting the development of junior team members within the finance department

Essential qualities

ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified

5+ years industry experience within a product or retail business

Experience with IFRS and/or UK GAAP reporting

Proven experience working within a fast-paced environment

Experience using accounting software

Motivated and ambitious to develop further skills

Excellent communication abilities

Desirable qualities

Experience within the fashion industry and/or start-ups

Involvement working with private equity firms

Familiarity with the IPO process

Previous experience presenting to board members

Benefits

Salary: £60,000 to £70,000 + uncapped bonus + share options with progression + pension

Hybrid working
