Finance Director | Fast-Growth Media Tech Start-Up | London

Harmonic are delighted have been retained by a scaling Media & Entertainment technology business, who develop mobile applications, in their search for a Finance Director.

The Business:

We are currently working with a Media Tech start-up, who have interests within the mobile app/gaming industry. The company previously closed out a multi-million fundraising round in the region of $10 million and employ around 50 employees. They are now in the process of looking to continue fundraising to support the growth of the business. The business is backed by renowned institutional investors and was founded by highly regarded and passionate entrepreneurs.

The business has a fantastic social purpose at their core and are looking for a hardworking and talented accountant to lead the finance function. They are renowned for fostering a dynamic and sociable workplace environment which has that exciting 'start-up' feel to it. This presents a fantastic opportunity to get in at the ground level of a growing start-up and have a significant impact in their future journey.

The Role:

Reporting directly into the COO, you will be responsible for overseeing the smooth running of the finance function, which includes management and development of a Finance Manager and Finance Assistant. As the Finance Director you will take a leading role on setting both the commercial and financial strategy with the business directors. You will lead on the Financial Planning & Analysis as well as play an integral role in supporting with fundraising.

There is a clear path of progression on offer, with the opportunity to grow to CFO after you embed yourself as the Finance Director.

Duties:

  • Overseeing the smooth running of the Finance Function.
  • Managing and developing a team of 2.
  • Leading on the Financial Planning & Analysis (budgeting, forecasting, analysis).
  • Business partnering with all departments to improve profitability.
  • Drive process improvements and efficiency.
  • Working with the CEO and COO on setting the commercial and financial strategy.
  • Supporting with fundraising matters.
  • Managing ad-hoc legal matters (e.g. contract queries, referring onto lawyers).
  • Ad-hoc projects.

What we need to see (essential):

  • ACA, ACCA or CIMA.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Experience with fundraising.
  • Proactive mindset.
  • Understanding of a start-up/scale-up environment.

What we'd like to see (bonus):

  • Experience working with licensing (Media/TV/Film), Gaming or Mobile apps.
  • Strong understanding of subscription revenue model.

Salary: £90,000 - £120,000 plus share options
